At 3.30pm this afternoon we were made aware of a member of staff who has tested positive for Covid-19.

This member of staff has not been in college today and we are pleased to say their symptoms are mild, obviously however they have been in contact with a number of learners. .

Because of the transport arrangements bringing learners into college it is with regret that we have taken the decision to close the college for the remainder of this term. As such, with effect from 8.00 a.m. on Monday 7th December 2020, Oakley College will be temporarily closed to all learners. This step has been taken with disappointment but is necessary to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all our learners at this time. It also follows advice and guidance relating to a case of Covid -19 now confirmed within teaching staff at the College. We await further official guidance from Public Health England on this single case, but in the meantime we have sent out a letter to all parents/carers with related advice.

Home learning for all learners will be provided from Monday to Thursday of next week, term finishes as normal on Thursday 10th December. Lessons will move online and your son/daughter’s tutor will be in touch. Staff will be available on Monday should you wish to contact us. Although it is the last week of term, please ensure that your son or daughter engages with both the learning and our support for learners.

We intend to fully re-open as planned on Wednesday 6th January 2021 and very much look forward to seeing everyone again then. In the meantime, stay vigilant and safe and enjoy what you safely can during the festive season. A season like no other this year!

Take good care
