Coronavirus/Covid-19 – Oakley College remains open until further notice

I am sure you have been following the news regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the implications it could have for all of us, especially those with underlying medical issues.

We continue to closely monitor all official guidance as the situation continues to develop and will, of course, always follow the advice issued by Public Health England and other authorities.

I am writing to you today to give you the opportunity to make an individual risk assessment for your young person and whether they should attend college.  If you choose to keep your young person at home to reduce the risk of them catching COVID-19, then Oakley College will record the absence as Covid-19 related and you will not be penalised. The Local Authority’s we work with supports this.

Please be clear that I am not telling you to keep your young person off college – we will remain open for as long as it is safe to do so, or unless we are directed to close by the Government or the local authorities we work with.  The decision is entirely yours, based upon your knowledge of your young person’s health needs. As always though, if your young person is absent from college, you do need to email or telephone to inform us.

We will review all off-site activities on a case by case basis; however, we have already been informed by some of our off-site centres that they have made the decision to suspend their services.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.  Please keep up to date via our College website and Facebook page as that is how we will communicate any further changes to you.

With best wishes to you all to stay safe and well.
